Sean M. Mazorol, JD, LLM, MBA

Sean's practice primarily focuses on commercial and real estate litigation. He has successfully represented business and individuals on claims of fraud and breach of contract, and property owners in real estate and condemnation proceedings. Sean gained considerable trial experience as a misdemeanor prosecutor with the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, and has successfully represented clients in civil jury trials.

Sean additionally focuses on commercial and real estate transactional work. He attained advanced legal education from Georgetown University in the area of securities and financial regulation, and earned an M.B.A. from Atkinson Business School of Management at Willamette University. His education and work experience make him well-qualified to solve complex legal and business matters for his clients, such as mergers and acquisitions and securities offerings.

In addition, while attending law school, Sean worked for Oregon Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul J. De Muniz. At the Supreme Court, Sean acquired a unique understanding of the appellate process and how judges practice. During law school, Sean also served as Editor-in-Chief of the Willamette Law Review and graduated magna cum laude.

  • Represented consultants in prosecuting claims of fraud, breach of contract, declaratory relief, and unjust enrichment for withholding consulting fees.
  • Represented individual in defending claims of breach of contract on personal guaranty for a business startup loan.

Eminent Domain, Real Estate, and Land Use Litigation

  • Represent property owners whose property is targeted for condemnation by TriMet, ODOT, WSDOT, and other public entities in Oregon and Washington.
  • Represent property owners in eminent domain, regulatory takings, and inverse condemnation proceedings.
  • Represent commercial property owners in lawsuit against surveyors, title company, and previous property owners over dispute involving a railroad right-of-way encroachment.
  • Represented individual in defending claim of breach of contract on personal guaranty for commercial real estate lease.
  • Represented note holder in defending foreclosure action to protect first-priority position.
  • Represent property owner in prosecuting claims of construction defect and insurance coverage.
  • Represent landowner in appealing land use decision to allow property to come within the urban growth boundary.

Regulatory Enforcement and Criminal Defense

  • Represent investment advisors in defending enforcement actions for securities violations brought by the Oregon Division of Finance and Corporate Securities and Washington State Department of Financial Institutions.
  • Represent individuals charged with misdemeanor and felony crimes.
  • Former special deputy prosecutor with the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, responsible for prosecuting misdemeanor charges.

Commercial and Real Estate Transactions

  • Represent various landowners in pursuing permits and financing to develop property.
  • Represent buyers in mergers and acquisitions and issuers in securities offerings.
  • Represent landowners in negotiation of oil and gas leases.

Probate, Employment, and General Litigation

  • Represented heirs in prosecuting will-contest dispute involving claims of undue influence and lack of testamentary capacity.
  • Represented beneficiary in a petition contesting the validity of a revocable living trust based on undue influence and lack of capacity.
  • Represent heir in proceedings to remove personal representative for failure to properly account for assets of the estate.
  • Represented employer in defense of statutory employment discrimination claims, and employment-based common law tort claims.
  • Represent individual in defense of lawsuit for financial abuse of a vulnerable person.
